Getting into
Sailing
There are many entry points to sailing, but none give you the variety and support that Topper International can offer.
More newcomers have learned their skills in a Topper than any other sailboat as it is the leading singlehanded class for Junior sailors. With regular sailing events worldwide it is a community that continues to grow, offering budding sailors of all ages the chance to be a part of a truly exciting sport.
Our Topaz Range is equally widespread, with sailing schools and holiday clubs using our boats to teach and tour. The Topaz range provides the ultimate range of water-crafts, perfect for novice and experienced sailors alike.
Book a Day at Bray
With anything, you’ll never know until you try! This is why we offer test runs of the Topper and our complete Topaz Range at Bray Lake, Windsor.
Our Sales Manager, Jon, has over 30 years experience instructing Water-sports and Racing to International level, and can provide 1-on-1 training sessions free of charge. With changing facilities, a cafe and other activities available the whole family can attend for a great day out.
For more information please contact us, or visit the Bray Lake website.
RYA Courses
A good starting point for many is to take an RYA course. Known and respected, there are more than 1,000 training centres around the UK with over 300 different courses.
The National Sailing Scheme is a series of short courses that each run over a number of sessions or two full days. These allow sailors to progress quickly from beginner to expert in a controlled and enjoyable environment.
Open to all children, OnBoard is a beginner programme that gets people on the water for the first time. There is no experience or equipment needed to get started and as the programme is progressive, you can work your way through the other RYA Youth Schemes.
Join a sailing Club
Sailing Clubs offer everyone a cost effective way to get involved and enjoy the great outdoors! With Toppers positioned in sailing clubs across the country, we can advise and recommend the best for you.
Joining a club offers a whole host of benefits such as; access to essential facilities, a social hub, staying up-to-date with news/ events and even keeping your boat on-site rather than transporting. With a lively social scene, they are a great place to meet more like-minded sailors and provide an affordable way of starting out in the sport.
